This weekend

Top photo by Hanne. All rights reserved. Wearing DIY'ed dress with fringes, vintage clutch, Marc by Marc Jacobs bracelet and various other jewelry (mostly gifts and vintage).

Went back to my old hometown this weekend to visit. I celebrated Fastelavn together with my friends there, and above are some of the photos I took. The Floor Is Made of Lava came and played; love those guys. Don't know what Fastelavn is? Check the post I made last year about it, where you can, ahem, see me dressed up as a princess age 4. Well, well :)

Still not over Orange

Blazer: H&M conscious collection
Shirt: Vintage
Pants: Zara
Sunglasses: H&M

Orange. Even though some would legitimately say that it is a colour that belongs to the previous Spring / Summer with Raf Simon's (historically amazing) SS11 collection or should be toned down as a pastel colour instead, this eyepopping colour still has a place in my heart this summer (and also, I really don't want to stop wearing these Zara jeans - they're high in comfyness).

Therefore I propose a season that still has a place (if not just a little) for orange. Worn with white or the incredibly contemporary pastel-trend, I believe we can make it work. If not, I'll be running loose in Copenhagen directing traffic. See you out there!

100 readers via google and my boyfriend gave me roses!

My dear readers, WE MADE 100! I'm SO excited, and as promised - I made a cake! The cake turned out a little clumpy but my did it taste good!! Besides there was cream in the dough; we're celebrating aren't we? ;)
My boyfriend gave me beautiful purple flowers yesterday, since we have now been together for 15 months. We don't normally make a big deal out of it, but he sure knows how to make me feel loved.
Hope you're doing great!
Love,
Mikaela

AFTERNOON SUNLIGHT

VINTAGE TRENCH COAT (similar here) / VINTAGE SHIRT / 5TH AVENUE JEANS (similar here) / IAN HAROLD BOOTS (similar here) / KAIBOSH SUNNIES / FOSSIL WATCH AND BRACELET

A little while back my gorgeous friend Anouska came by London. We briefly got to catch up while the sun was slowly setting over London before she had to go back to Dublin, and it was so lovely to see her. She's a real star.
I also ran in to a reader of mine, Margaux from California, and I just want to emphasize how happy it makes me, when I meet you guys on the street! So please, if you ever see me around, don't hesitate to say hi.

HAVE A WONDERFUL START ON THE WEEKEND!

BIG NEWS

I have, as the title of this post may apply, some big news for you.
You know how I live in Copenhagen right? Well, by the middle of next month, April, that will have changed to London ( no no, Copenhagen stays where it is, I am moving to L O N D O N)!

This is happening as I got accepted to a full-time course at Central Saint Martins with the clear vision of starting a BA in Fashion Print by next year. This is my dream, so you can only imagine the jumping and immense adrenalin rushing through my body just thinking of this.
Naturally, I love Copenhagen, my friends and my life here, but I'm excited to move to a creative hot-spot like London and finally get serious about my creativity and passion for design. And also, after doing a bit of calculating, I'm not going to be further away than a couple of hours on a plane and a good magazine read (they're cheaper over there - win!).

I'm finally on the other side of the surgery and ready to take on new challenges. I hope to gain many new experiences, expand and challenge my ideas of fashion as a wearable form of art and get even more vintage goodies in my closet.

All time favorite editorial - BON Winter 2011

source: noirfacade

I am so in love with this editorial. My fashion inspiration folder is literally (well, not literally) exploding, and therefor I finally gathered myself to start a tumblr (HERE!). With this I hope to somewhat organize all those amazing photos that inspire me, and hopefully you too will enjoy it.

Also - I got convinced to start a twitter, so check it out here. :)

Fluoro French Manicure - TUTORIAL

I finally got around to making the promised neon french manicure tutorial. Basically it's super simple. First you apply a base colour (here I used Wet n Wild's Hush Hush mixed with a little bit of brown).

Secondly you have to paint your nail tips white just like you would do if you were making a french manicure. This turns out best if you do it in one swoop (I used vegan Sparitual's french tip creme - this brush works really well for this). You can also use tape if you like, but there's less fuss if you don't.

When the white has dried, you're going to paint the white with your fluoro colour (here I used Depend colour #035) and last but not least a topcoat. :)

WHITE OUT

VINTAGE JUMPER / VINTAGE SILK SHORTS / WOLFORD STOCKINGS / ASOS WHITE SHOES / MAXMARA TOTE / FOSSIL BRACELET / FOSSIL WATCH

A quick follow up to yesterday's post, showcasing my vintage wonder of Winter-to-Spring outfit. I know I keep ranting on about this, but I'm so excited about Spring (WOOHOO, YUPPEEE, WOWCHA!!!).
I just really love being outdoors, and there's just something about sitting with a blanket and a magazine in the sun on my little London terrace sipping a hot tea. Today, accompanied by my lovely friend Isabella, I had my first breakfast on the terrace of the year. Many more to come, please!

HOPE YOU HAVE A LOVELY DAY

Exceptionally, I got around to making a little outfit video, so if you care for it and have 47 seconds to spare, you're more than welcome to have a look!

I hope beautiful weather is following you wherever you may be, and that you're enjoying it to the fullest!

JUST A JUMPER

VINTAGE JUMPER / FOSSIL ACCESSORIES

The arrival of Spring is like exhaling after having held your breath all through Winter. We're in that beautiful transitional faze, where temperatures are slowly coming up, and London's been incredibly good so far - it's been about the 8-15 degrees, which just about means that in those sunny moments, all you need is a good ol' jumper, and as with so much of my other clothing this one is vintage. I've selected a few jumpers and knits (on sale!) that would be perfect for sipping something to-go on a park bench in the sunshine with sunnies on. Spring is here!

HAVE A LOVELY DAY!

We're moving towards the 100

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Why do I look so unhappy? hmm.. shorts: Levis, cropped blazer: H&M, body: old ballet thing I have, Admiral shoulder pads: monki, earrings: mum's old :)
So everyone - We are moving towards a 100 readers on google! I've decided with myself, that if the current amount of 98 readers via google raises to a 100 I will bake an a 100 cake in the weekend! So can you help me by inviting some of your friends to check out the blog? I'll take pictures of the cake of course! :)
I just got back from my first dancing class in two years! This was a personal victory for me since I haven't been dancing because of a knee injury. But today I have started a new chapter, where it cannot any longer keep me from doing what I love (besides fashion of course!)..
Hope you all have wonderful small victories like I.
Love,
Mikaela

P.S. I've got some critique concerning that I always stand in the same positions in my photos and I just want to apologize to all of you and explain why there might be a lack of diversity in my look photos. My room is simply not big enough to get a full body picture, so If I want to show my shoes of so you can see them, I have to pop my foot up. This has become a habit so now I keep doing it - even without shoes. I'll do my best in the future to look happier and be more versatile in the photos! :)

Mein Herz tanzt

Wearing: Weekday dress.

I've got a busy week ahead! Copenhagen fashion week starts wednesday so my schedule will be full this week till the weekend where I'll be heading towards Germany to visit family. Can't wait ;)

My boyfriend and I will go away for some days when the winter holiday starts here in Denmark (mid February); he has made me promise to leave my make-up bag at home - ugh.. Seriously - there are so so many girls who look beautiful without make-up but I'm afraid, I'm not one of them. I do have the feeling of waking up without make-up thinking: "Why don't I go without make-up some more?" and as soon as I hit a mirror outside my home, spotting my dreary eyes, I'm like: "That's why!". Oh well, I'll be just fine miles away from my daily make-up routine I'm sure :)

xx,

Mikaela
