Gordon Parks

Gordon Parks photography

Hi lovies,

A wonderful friend, Signe Marie, from my former home-town came to visit me here in Copenhagen for the weekend. We've just had the best time! :) That's the reason why I've been a little absent - but you've got me back now.

xx, Mikaela

When it's Cold outside

Wearing: Vintage leather jacket and shoes, MTWTFSS Weekday jumper, Samsøe & Samsøe pants, Penny Black bracelet, Neye bag.

So, the weather means business - it's crazy cold! Not so cold that it couldn't get colder (such a depressing thought, but we won't let that get us down!), but definitely cold enough to make my toes crumble. I've just moved away from the place where these photos were taken last week. Today I'm getting an internet-guy over to set up the internet, so I won't have to keep logging on to other people's computers, spamming them with my photos and documents. Fingers crossed! :) I've started working as an intern with the MaxMara group, and I couldn't keep my fingers away from the Penny Black bracelet above - I really love it!!

xx,
Mikaela

Fancy Feet

Photos by me. All rights reserved.

Wondering what fancy shoes should adorn your pretty feet throughout this winter's parties? Last week I was invited to see Bianco's release of their party collection, filled with glitter, sparkle and of course this season's most beloved trend: snakeskin. I got myself a pair of lovely stilletoes - pictures will come! Sorry, that the blog has been hibernating a little this week - my internet and I have not been getting along. This post, for a matter of fact, wasn't possible if my dad hadn't generously lend me his computer for a short period of time - on goes all the data and before we know it - fancy posts! I'm in! :) Hope you've had a great W-end!

Lots of love,
Mikaela

ON COMMUTE

REISS JUMPER / ZARA DRESS / ZARA SCARF / BILLI BI BOOTS / WAREHOUSE BAG / DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH

To travel is to live. Wise words once said by my fellow Dane, Hans Christian Andersen. There's something in the rush, a tiny kick of adrenaline every time I'm on the move to a new place. Lately I've had the pleasure of going a bit around some UK cities (many yet to be discovered) - some exciting collaborations coming up with some of the best of the British! Fun times, and I really can't wait to share it with you guys. Luckily, there's nothing like a good train-ride, be it unexpectedly in the 1st class (I'm still surprised every time - "are you sure this pastry is free? In that case, I'll just get a few for my friends") or be it as the more usual: in the hall-way sitting on my suitcase.

Wow, where did this week disappear to, by the way? It's just rushed by and it's almost already the weekend. And weekend means cake. Lots of cake.

HOPE YOU'VE HAD A LOVELY WEEK SO FAR

KAIBOSHOPTICALS

Hiya guys! Good news: I CAN SEE!!!
I had a chat with some awesome people from Kaibosh during the Copenhagen Fashion Week in August, and they said they'd love to help me see the world a bit sharper. Seeing these matte tortoise specs, I felt like they would be a nice touch to when I'm just keen on giving my eyes a rest from the whole poke-your-eyes-till-you-can-see-thing I've got going on every day with contacts. So no more walking in to walls for me!
I use -2 on both eyes, and I haven't had specs that have worked for my strenght in two years now (!!), so these babies came to a place where they were needed!
Did the whole check-out, and I found the whole process really easy - they have sooo many cool contemporary designs in there, so do have a look if you're in need or urge for a new pair of glasses.

They've got some awesome sunnies as well! Currently waiting for the Chips & Salsa style to arrive (exciiiteeeeed!!).

HOPE YOU'RE ALL DOING AWESOME!

BLUES

PHOTOS TAKEN BY ANNIE
VINTAGE JACKET, SHIRT AND BOOTS
TOPSHOP JEANS
PENNYBLACK BAG
MONOL WATCH

So these photos here are a teeny bit out dated. More specifically, they are from the Copenhagen Fashion Week in August, after I had breakfast with sweet Annie, who had come to visit during CPHFW.
These photos are quite light and my hair is going all halo here, but I still thought I'd share.

I'm still quite sick at home with this giga-flu. Take care you don't get it from this post (just kidding, I disinfected it after I sneezed on it)..

SORRY FOR MY BAD HUMOR

HOW TO: BERRY OMBRE LIPS

One thing is for sure: I love lipstick! A look from the runway that has inspired and intrigued me for a while now, is the ombre lip or the faded lipstick look. It's been introduced to the catwalk already a few seasons ago, but is still very on key when it comes to AW makeup looks today, so why not give it a try, shall we?

This look is all about layering, so I suggest you find a couple of lipsticks to blend - I used three for this look, MAC's Up The Amp followed by Oriflame's Plum Desire and finished off with an all-time classic, MAC's Ruby Woo. The secret ingredient to the whole thing is a black kohl pencil, I can recommend Bobbi Brown's Smokey Eye Kajal liner.

STEP 1
I prep my lips with a bit of BB-cream, which gives good moisture while giving you a perfect pale base. As an option, you can add translucent powder here and in the end to get a matte look.

STEP 2
With your index finger, gently apply your lighter shade (I can recommend MAC's Up the Amp) from the inner part of your lip till about three quarter out on the lip. Now follow with a darker shade, but not going as far out as you did with the first shade.

STEP 3
Optionally you can add an even darker shade or a shade to tint it only to the inner part of your lip and blend in. Again I happily refer you to my favourite red, Ruby Woo. For my look I added just a bit of black kohl which I blended well in with my three lipstick shades. Done!

HOPE YOU WILL HAVE FUN CREATING THIS LOOK TOO!

INDIA: FASHION NOW

PHOTOS BY ME FROM THE INDIA: FASHION NOW EXHIBITION @ ARKEN

Here's the follow up on my trip to ARKEN as promised where the INDIA NOW exhibitions are taking place. This exhibition deeply intrigued me so I simply couldn't help but sharing. If you are Danish or by any chance should be coming by Denmark before February, do yourself a favor and visit this amazing Art Gallery. It's one of my favorite places.

The INDIA: FASHION NOW exhibition showcases 7 designers from India and their colourful creations. One, who made a special impression is Manish Arora, who was the first fashion designer from India to make it in the global fashion scene. He now shows his collection during Paris Fashion Week, no surprise. He combines colourful and refined art with advanced craftsmanship. Arken produced a documentary on Manish and his work, which you can see right here (in English).

Nothing left to say, but the fact that I'm completely inspired, coming from a very minimalistic culture. It's the contrast that makes it so fantastic.

CURRENTLY HOME ALONE AND SICK. DESPERATELY TRYING TO TRY AND MAKE MY HEALTH RECONSIDER ITS CHOICE ON MAKING ME BORINGLY PASSIVE.

LOTS OF LOVE
SARAH MIKAELA

A DAY FOR DUNGAREES

VINTAGE SWEATSHIRT
VINTAGE SHOES
BEADHOUSE RINGS
MONOL WATCH
VINTAGE FEDORA
ASOS BACKPACK

Sorry for checking out for a bit. I had the most wonderful surprise this Thursday. An un-expected visit from Denmark, which has had my full attention, and I've simply had such an amazing weekend.
Here's for a Sunday outfit I wore going for a hot chocolate with my lovely friend Amy at Brick Lane. I managed to get myself in dungarees for the first time (!!) and being in a viscose, these are so lovely for the most calm day of the week. And although I thought I wouldn't be jumping in camou print, floral camou print has had me convinced!

Also, I'm starting to really wear sweatshirts a lot lately. I blame the weather. I put a link below for another pink sweatshirt, otherwise I can really recommend going hunting for them in vintage stores!

HOPE YOU'RE ALL ENJOYING YOUR SUNDAY

Instantly Inspired

Lindsey Wixson for Oyster magazine #95 - source: tfs

Couldn't help but share as soon as I saw this. The first photo really makes me want to do a DIY on those sunnies! The second photo is so happy - and who doesn't love happy photos? :)

Lots of love,

CUBES AND COLOURS

VINTAGE JUMPER / ZARA JEANS / REISS BAG / VINTAGE LOAFERS / CARAVELLE WATCH

Sooo, I know I already did an October favourites post (spoiler alert if you haven't read the post already, it was apples) but I have more! See, I recently fell in love with this quilted bag from REISS, and yes I intend to say love, as the store manager had to scoop me up from the floor having melted completely after laying eyes on this cool cat of a bag. And then there's my lovely vintage cube print jumper I got recently in a local thrift store. I intend to live in this throughout winter!

HOPE YOU'VE ALL HAD A NICE AND HAPPY WEEKEND
