Copenhagen Fashion Week - Day 1

Wearing: Asos leotard, self designed/made shirt and tassel earrings, Pieces vest, vintage clutch

I've had a slow start on fashion week which has been rather nice taken into consideration that I'm a little ill. I went to the CPH vision press show and Rützou, which was absolutely amazing! I was going to wear a completely different outfit, but the comfort won over the look - it's been freezing today in Cph! Anyhow a lovely person from the Danish fashion magazine Costume came and took my picture, which was however a bit confirmatory I must say :) I saw some Danish celebrities at both shows, and it is amazing how they can change their outfits EVERY HOUR (almost). Their entire look changed from the different shows, and I know that it would take me a lot of practicing and a big bag to change my outfits as I went along. Someday maybe, who knows? :)

Tomorrow I'm up for Stine Goya, which is really exciting as it is my first time at her show!

Hope you're happy and well!

Lots of love,

Mikaela

Favorites from the Rützou A/W 11 fashion show

I've just come back from the Rützou A/W 11 fashion show and I must say, I was impressed! Susanne Rützou had outdone herself and showed a very colourful and lively A/W collection. Especially the sequin blazer and the red dress left me wanting more - let's see what my salary says when this collection hits the stores. The hair was very thirties, all curled up and tucked to the side. The top girl in the golden dress was amazing on the catwalk; she really had charm on the catwalk. These outfits will turn heads, no doubt.

Mikaela

I love these spring/summer collections! The colorful prints makes me happy every time I look at them. My favorites amongst these are definently Basso and Brooke - I think it's very unique and I would love to be one of those lucky ones to wear it (hint hint Basso and Brooke!)...
What do you think about the print trend coming towards us this spring?

Busy, busy bee. Don't you just know it, when you feel you're so busy running from place to place, that you might as well skip the trouble with your hair-routine and just fix it vertically with hair gel? This look has not yet been sported on the runway, to my knowledge, but with the current pace of 2015 and the wind coming from west, I'm sure Karl or Marc will see the demand of the trend.

In these times, with fashion weeks being on their high, my level of excitement equivals to being under the influence of a 5-cups-of-coffee-in-a-row-kick and as you can imagine from that, I love it but it doesn't relax me. If you have been following me on Instagram, you might have noticed, that I have a very soft spot for plants. Whenever I feel my mind is clotted, I always take time out of my schedule, however many fires are burning in my inbox, social media, to-do's etc. to take care of my plants (my 20m2 bedroom inhabits 16 alone). It sounds silly, but it completely calms me down to do this, and with my love for anything green and organic, you can imagine how much I love The Botanical Gardens. I had pinned down the Copenhagen Gardens in my recent Tour de Scandinavia for the fashion weeks, and it was a lovely calm moment out of my day.

I HOPE YOU HAVE ALL HAD A GREAT WEEKEND

ON A RETURN TO THE 70s

SUPERTRASH JACKET / GANNI TURTLENECK (similar here) / ALEXA CHUNG FOR AG JEANS / VINTAGE RED VELVET BOOTS / MIU MIU SUNNIES / DW WATCH

It's undeniable now. Something, if you had asked me pre moving to London a couple of years ago, I would have highly doubted would ever happen. But as history has shown, I have absolutely no idea, what I will be wearing ahead of time - I am not a person with one very defined aesthetic, which have earlier annoyed me a lot, but I have come to accept, that my excitement lies in many different styles, colours, silhouettes and qualities - the mystery towards the future remains, and so I predict it will stay.
To get back to the cliffhanger made in the first few sentences, it is of course my latest fascination with the 70s, that I'm referring to. It started out with a pair of flared jeans back in Denmark a few weeks ago (from this post), and now it's continuing with flared jeans and my beloved vintage red velvet boots. I bought them a few years back at a car boot sale in Denmark for what's equivalent to $10. They didn't make the first ship to London back when I moved, and I've had them on my list ever since - and now at last! Here they are with me in London now. Together, we shall jump around the streets of London and sing of peace and love (no joking matter here, as relevant now as it was in the 70s). Let's wear whatever skinny, flared, baggy jeans we like to, and remember it's all about the person wearing them, that make them great.

HOPE YOU ARE HAVING AN AMAZING WEEK

NO STRUGGLES

Finally another post with a recent photo, yay what a day! I know what you're thinking; why does she have loads of hair in her face? I found it rather convenient that way, really. I'm less than a week away from rejoining society after my surgery, but still I'm not confident with putting up photos as I still look a bit beaten. I'm absolutely recognizable, still there's a way to go before I'm at the goal. This will first happen completely when the fractures have healed in about 5-7 months.
My mantra? I am patient. I am patient. I am.. I really, really can't wait!!!

Valentine thoughts

Happy Valentines day everyone. I must admit, I have never celebrated valentines day at all, in fact it's not really a Danish custom to celebrate it. However with the industry trying to sell us more stuff, the blogosphere has turned pink and the restaurant where I work at nights is fully booked, this year I have all of a sudden given this date some thought.

The heart bracelet from Pilgrim was given to me by one of my absolute best friends in this world. Thought I'd share it with you today as it means a lot to me.

Today, 19 years ago, I got my name Sarah Mikaela. Just a fun fact :)

ORANGE & PLAID

MAX&Co Coat / VINTAGE Jumper / VINTAGE Pants / MELBOURNE Boots

As mentioned yesterday, I'm back on my local playground - here showing the always lovely Brick Lane. And what better way to do my local tour, than in my new Aussie goodies. I found a huge SALVOS (op shop) in Melbourne, and walked out with bags, including the orange sweater and my debut with plaids (London finally got through to me on that one).. Furthermore, my lovely parents gave me these Melbourne made Australian boots - I just know, I'll be walking around in these for years to come.

HAVE A LOVELY DAY

Happy New Year everyone!! Sorry to not have made a big New Year's post or anything, but I thought you'd all be busy anyway ;) So, did you get well into 2012?
On the day I discovered that I had two free movie tickets lying around - ones that I had received two birthdays ago and hadn't used! And of course they're expiration date was the 1st of January. Off to the movies I hopped and I invited my mum along. We saw a really sweet Christmas movie (and ate lots of popcorn).

I hope you're all happy and well!

Camilla Skovgaard

I stumbled upon the shoe designer Camilla Skovgaard's website, and I love her cool edgy shoe collection. I really want to wear the white wedges, they remind me of Star Wars or something! Amongst her loyal buyers is Halle Berry.

ARRIVAL COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK

ph. by Stine Mo

Heya all you gorgeous ones
Let's jump in to a plane for 3 hours and take 20 degrees of the 15+ celsius degrees in my last post, and BOOM you've got Copenhagen!
I'm in the midst of hectic fashion week, and therefor running around town like Bambi on Ice trying to find the warmest way imaginable to look somewhat presentable (read: mission impossible). I'll be hanging around this winter wonderland for another few days before heading back to base in London and starting on some new exciting projects, I can't wait to share with you.
May the sight of snow make you feel a bit warmer wherever you might be - there will be more of those to come!

Ecco - Walk in Style Awards 2012

I had amazing company all night! Here with Oliver Anton and beautiful Anne-Sofie
Also met sweet Natalie, who looked absolutely amazing in a colourful clothes.

All photos by me - all rights reserved

The fashion week hath begun! Tonight I attended the prestigious Ecco Walk in Style Awards - it was truly amazing. Great show, great food and lovely company. To say a bit about it I just copy pasted what Ecco themselves said about tonight:

"The award ceremony took place after a fashion show highlighting ECCO’s autumn and winter collection 2012 on a catwalk paying tribute to ECCO’s Scandinavian design tradition. The audience at the City Hall witnessed three new shoe trends on the catwalk each represented by a number of specially made showpieces: “Aesthetic Being”, “Active Vibrations” and “Nordic Breathing”. Three talented and visionary Danish designers, each with their own personal take on the assigned theme, contributed to the show styling. They were fashion designer David Andersen, costume designer Lars Emil and leather designer Hanne Harnov Riisbro, Zolo Design."

The pictures above were taken from the mood "Active Vibrations" - Ecco is so good at making beautiful shoes and show-pieces. Crown-princess Mary attended the show, and she looked absolutely stunning in a white suit.
