Raf - You're a genius

wearing pink vintage shirt and marc by marc jacobs bracelet.

Raf Simons, the designer of Jil Sander, is a genius. Then it's said. I'm sure some of you get tics from the colour block trend that's just around the corner. The Gucci opponent colours weren't my cup of tea with the golden belt etc. But Jil Sander's show - my heart melted. I can't wait for the colour to take over this summer - and hopefully for good (In my case, I'm sure this is). There will be more photos of the outfit I wore on this photo, but at this moment I only have pride in showing you this one.

Lots of love,

Mikaela

Workedy, workedy, work

Hat from Ganni

Gosh, what a week! This has indeed been one of those weeks where concealer and coffee have become my two new best friends. I've been so, so busy with work. As you know, I'm interning for Max Mara and as fashion week is coming up I've been doing lots of preparation work there. This hasn't been all though, at evenings I'm working in a restaurant in town. I'm looking so much forward to fashion week next week, but I predict that sleep will become a rare commodity. This doesn't leave a lot of space for blogging next week, but I'll be sure to take lots of potos (photos) so that when I go into fashion-week-recovery-mode there'll be lots and lots of material and good stuff to share :) I'll do my very best to keep it going though !

Lots of love to you,

Mikaela

A MAGICAL MYSTERY

Do you remember the exciting, impatient almost annoying feeling you could have as a child, looking at yourself in the mirror, wondering how you would one day look, when you would be all grown up? Whether you would look anything like your grown up surroundings, or perhaps someone completely different. In the teenage years the feeling slowly smoldered away, as you gradually get an answer to your question. Going through this surgery has recalled this funny feeling. I feel reconstructed, and as the days are passing, I'm slowly getting closer to knowing how I'm really going to look.
All grown up and stuff.

Tomorrow I'm getting my stitches out and I'll be able to come home to Copenhagen. I miss you! Time here has gone by with listening to no less than The King (yes, I have a thing for ELVIS), relaxing and browsing through op shops.
Coming home, I'll again be able to keep up with my daily blog-readings and visit your gorgeous blogs. I hope you'll be patient with replies.

Jacqetta Wheeler by Marcin Tyszka for Harper's Bazaar Russia February

I found this really beautiful photo shoot at Fashion Gone Rogue of Jacqetta Wheeler in the February issue of Harper's Bazaar Russia. I love the contrast in the photo's and what I wouldn't give to wear the outfit on the second photo from the top (sigh). It's great how this shoot shows how to mix girly items and silhouettes but still being edgy. Hope you enjoy!

Weather is getting so lovely here in London! We've really had an early start on Spring and that means more jumping around town without having to slow down because of all the layers you have on! Me and my flat mates are already starting out planning what we want to happen on the rooftop terrace  and if you've been checking out instagram, you'll know that I bought myself a tiny rhubarb. When I lived in the countryside in Denmark, the rhubarbs in the garden would grow as big as umbrellas, and something like that would really come in handy, when you live in London! That, and the fact that they make an amazing rhubarb / raspberry crumble -  now that's a handy plant!

HAVE A LOVELY DAY YOU GUYS!

Sneak Peak

I know - I'm sooo slow at updating at the moment! I'm putting all my time and energy into the school musical where I'll be dancing - it's the premiere tomorrow! We've been practicing on and on, so the time I've had for the blog has sadly been very little - I hope you'll have patience with me till it's over :)

Anyway, here's a little sneak peak on what is to come in the editorial with Klara. She and I have been talking for ages about this, and soon it will be ready for the blog! I hope you like it.

ARCHIE'S GIRLS

Yesterday I met up with my gorgeous friend Laura, and besides from the usual chatting, shopping and what we usually do on our blogger-dates, we got stopped by (a rather handsome, if you must know) "Archie" with his Betty and Veronica by his side. We were asked if we would like to get our make-up done (like Archie's stunning girls) in cooperation with M.A.C.'s limited make-up collection, and naturally, Laura and I couldn't resist, making time for fluttering our lashes and pouting our lips.

So we took our place in the chairs ready to get all dolled up in the best comic book style.

The sweet make-up artist who did my make-up was from M.A.C. in Iceland, and she did gold / pink eyes on me with a graphic winged eye-liner and a luscious pink lipstick.

The packaging of the limited collection is absolutely adorable, by the way.

Vivacious, spoiled rich-girl Veronica or girl-next-door Betty.

Laura with purple eyeliner and luscious pink lips. Now, isn't she just kissable?

I've never had the opportunity of getting so close to one of M.A.C.'s limited make-up collections, but this was simply so much fun. I'm highly considering buying the Betty blush the make-up artist used on me, just because it was a lovely shade of pink and had perfect luminance. I kindly received the eye-shadow already, so let's see if I go out of my comfort zone and use eyeshadow.

THE FAUX COMFORT ZONE

SUPERTRASH - Coat / HOMEKNIT - Jumper / 76 FAUBOURG - Jeans (similar) / NOVA - bag

To be quite honest with you, fur (always the faux kind in my case) has never really been my thing, with teddybears and other fluffy creatures set aside. So although, I've been wearing this coat all season, I couldn't make myself reattach the  faux red fur collar it came with - just because. However, I womaned myself up the other day and did it, but… I just can't pull it off like my girl Anouska or Alice.
I will just have to go on for now without a faux fur collar around my neck - even though it was warm and nice and fluffy and..

Also - exciting things are going to be happening over the next couple of days, so make sure to follow me on instagram @SrhMikaela if you want in!

PREPARING FOR FASHION WEEK WITH MY PEN

Come end January, and it is time! The fashion weeks have begun, and models, photographers, editors and bloggers (heyaa!) are coming together from all over to see what the movers and shakers of those hot spots on the world are coming up with. As you are reading this, I am well on my way to Stockholm, which is the next city on the map to host the fashion party, and I'm beyond excited!

Now, a fair bit of preparation goes in to attending fashion weeks, and the process beforehand is the still before the storm. The cherished moments of quietly planning with the odd chaotic clothes crisis - oh the fun. Last mentioned made me purchase a short vintage 60s dress yesterday, to wear with knee high boots, but more on that another time. My camera is of course my most essential companion and accessory at fashion week, so the fact, that my leather case just so happen to match my other fashion week companion, my Chanel no. 5 for those special occasions, well, hello for a match!

In my preparation, I have kept my beauty routine to a minimum, leaving skin bare and let whichever red spots that came go untouched, unconcealed and instead focused my energy on my photography. For the fashion weeks, my PEN will be joined by my 12mm f2.0 lens for some scenic shots and my 75mm f1:1.8 for capturing portraits, and in-between-shows-coffees. I'm really enjoying how light I've become at the fashion weeks, and it's not because I've finally quit my daily in-take of whipped cream (one needs supplements for the soul), but because I'm not carrying heavy equipment around. Handy much? I think so! I started putting bricks in my bag, just to slowly get used to the difference.. With good preparation pre fashion week, planning outfits before being thousands of miles away from your closet, fashion week runs rather smoothly, and I can't wait to show you, what I'll be up to these times!

REMEMBER YOU CAN FOLLOW MY FW ATTENDANCE ON INSTAGRAM @SrhMikaela, FB AND TWITTER! HAVE A GREAT START TO YOUR WEEK

Hi lovies,

Sorry for the slow updating, but when I update I want it to be good. I've had some trouble starting my new camera up, and it has been occupying me for this week. Finally it seems to work and I'll soon start taking pictures for the blog with it (not quite yet).
Yesterday I went to a friend's place wearing this (Dree Hemningway inspired, as some of you may notice).

Hope you're happy and well.

Jean Genie | Lena Modigh

I'm sorry for being a bit out of reach. I've been so busy with my work these days, that I really haven't had the time or even worse the energy to do anything else. Fashion week is coming up in next week and the preparation work must be done. However, when I got home yesterday, I had to jump up and down (in my mind - physical activity is out of the question atp) when I saw this photo shoot by Lena Modigh. First I was loving this girl's hair, but then I discovered her braces - that just put me in the good mood box, where I'm still sitting. After work I met up with one of my darling friends, Rosa, who pointed out that I'm the only one feeling like an alien (just at times, you know). All of a sudden I feel good. Still tired, but good :)

Hope you're doing well!

Mikaela

On Deck

Knit: Vintage
Jeans: Topshop
Necklace: Pennyblack

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments and support on me getting my braces (or as I prefer to call it: bling on my teeth). You are all so great, and it was good also to hear about your stories. I can't wait to see how everything turns out in the end! :)
These photos have been taken at Frederiksholms Canal in the center of Copenhagen. Such a lovely place!

VINTAGE - Trench Coat / ASOS - Shirt (similar here) / VINTAGE - Skirt (similar here) / MAXMARA - Freno Stockings / ZARA - Mules / NOVA - Bag

Woohoo, I'm putting those mules I talked about yesterday (here) to work! The hip's been calmed down with some painkillers and to be fair, my black Nova bag is hiding a pair of changing shoes. What can I say, I love being level to the ground (as much as I love the look of heels - incomparable!). I really love how they with minimal effort just look so elegant - I have another outfit idea up my sleeve, where I want to style them in a more sporty way, so with my hip finally starting to behave itself, I should be in that outfit soon!

My Tuesday has been so much fun already! Went out shooting with lovely Shini from Park & Cube (check out my instagram @SrhMikaela and have a peak!). Can't wait to show you what we were up to!

HOPE YOU'RE DOING WELL!
